Jasprit Bumrah to miss India’s ODI series against Sri Lanka

Jasprit Bumrah return to India has been delayed due to his absence from the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah was not included in the initial India squad announced on 27 December but was included for the three-match series on 3 January.

Bumrah has been sidelined since September last year with a back stress reaction and is undergoing treatment at the BCCI National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He joined the ODI squad in the final week of 2022 after improving his training and bowling routine.

“The talented batsman has undergone rehabilitation and has been duly declared as per the NCA,” BCCI said in announcing Bumrah’s return. He will soon join the unique team of India,” he said.

However, Bumrah was unable to travel to Guwahati with the Indian team for the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

When India’s squad for the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka was announced on December 27, some team  reported that Bumrah was fit, but the selectors were afraid to drop him due to a back injury sustained in the home T20I. Australia last year. Bumrah then played in the 2022 World Twenty20 in Australia, where India lost to England in the semi-finals.

It remains to be seen whether India will pick Bumrah for the ODIs against New Zealand starting January 18.

India will play Sri Lanka in an ODI on January 10 at 12:15 PM. In Bumrah’s absence, all chaperones are Hardik PandyaMohammad Shami  Mohammad Siraj ,  Arshdeep Singh and umran Malik.
