India and Australia scored 187 runs in the second women’s T20I, taking the game to a Super Over where Harmanpreet Kaur & Co.

With over 40,000 in attendance, the women’s cricket teams from India and Australia put on an impressive show in the second T20 match of the 5-match series in Mumbai. The match turned out to be a farce, with both teams scoring 187 runs, taking the match to a Super Over. In the first leg Smriti Mandhana took India to a score of 20 while Renuka Singh Thakur did well with the ball to ensure the Australians failed to chase the 21-run target.

India’s thrilling victory with spectator support broke the internet as supporters, former cricketers and pundits took to Twitter to applaud the cricket tournament kicking off at the DY Patil Sports Academy.

Even Smriti Mandhana, who was named Player of the Match for her brilliant batting performance, said it was one of the best matches she has played.

“I think everyone in the Indian team likes to chase. However, we must work on setting the totals. When they were batting I realized it was an amazing wicket, it looked like I was on a great score. India needed 14 runs in the final bowled by Megan Schutt and Devika Vaidya hit two fours to reach 187 for 5 and level the game, sending the game into a Super Over.

The home side added 20 runs from the Super Over bowled by Heather Graham thanks to a six and a four from  Smriti Mandhana after Richa Ghosh made the most of the first ball.

Renuka Thakur was able to defend that total under immense pressure after sacking Alyssa Healy, handing Australia their first defeat of the year.
