No Players Sold in IPL Auctions 2023

Every year after the IPL auctions, while some players opt out of big deals, some cricketers do not.

In this article, we discuss five such players in the IPL 2023 post-auction ranking.

#1 Rehan Ahmad

Young England international Rehan Ahmed was expected after the first Test in Pakistan. He became England’s youngest male cricketer to make his Test debut and the youngest player to score an A in a Men’s Test. The 18-year-old took 5/48 in the second innings of the Karachi Test to secure England’s historic 3-0 victory.

The leg is in high demand in the IPL and many experts feel that Ahmed can find a place in the top 10 teams. Ash started his T20 career with flying colors, taking 21 wickets at an average of 22.57 and a save of 7.38 from 19 matches.

50 crores can be a big budget buy for some IPL franchises.

#2 Dasun Shanaka

Sri Lankan white ball captain Dasun Shanaka is one of those rare players in world cricket. After failing to prove himself as an ODI and T20I player, many were surprised when he was appointed captain of Sri Lanka. However, Shanaka proved to be a very effective cricketer for Sri Lanka.

The 31-year-old is a powerful batsman who has played brilliant innings to save Sri Lanka from trouble over the years. He scored over 140 runs in 173 T20 matches. Shanaka fits into the IPL powerhouse category represented in the second half.

Also decent average speed. Surprisingly, with a base price of Rs 50 crore, Shanaka did not find a buyer in the 2023 IPL auction.

#3 Wayne Parnell

Experienced Wayne Parnell is a versatile T20 cricketer. The left-handed fastball can serve at any stage of the game and make an impact with his intelligence. After the cap era, he came back and played for South Africa.

Parnell is an experienced T20 cricketer with 245 matches and 247 wickets at an average of 25.87 and a save percentage of 7.81. Parnell is not only good with the ball, but with the bat as well. There are five T20 hands with a maximum score of 99.

The 33-year-old had a base price of Rs 75 crore in the 2023 IPL auction but failed to generate interest among franchises.

#4 Sandeep Sharma

Indian center forward Sandeep Sharma is a seasoned IPL player. Since making his debut in 2013, he has played in 104 matches, taking 114 wickets at an average of 26.33 and a save of 11.77. He was one of those who represented first Raja Punjab and then Sunrisers Hyderabad in every season from 2014 to 2020.

However, his luck has changed in recent seasons. He has just seven goals in 2021 and two in five matches in 2022. However, the 29-year-old has been doing well in domestic cricket lately. He took 13 wickets in seven matches during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and seven wickets for Chandigarh in the Ranji Trophy tie against Madhya Pradesh.
