The 24-year-old opening batsman, who has recently bounced back from Dengue fever, underwent an extensive net session on Thursday morning. Nevertheless, his fitness for the highly anticipated match remains uncertain.

Gill’s Thursday Training Session at the Narendra Modi Stadium: Gill made his way to the Narendra Modi Stadium at approximately 11 AM, where he dedicated over an hour to his training regimen. His session kicked off with warm-up exercises before transitioning to batting practice on the nearby grounds, supervised by the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). Gill had the privilege of facing six bowlers, along with the guidance of a dedicated throwdown specialist during his approximately half-hour stint at the batting nets.

Should Gill not secure a spot in the XI on Saturday, it would be a setback for the team. In the recent encounter against Pakistan at the Asia Cup in Colombo just last month, he played a crucial role by fearlessly taking on the formidable Shaheen Shah Afridi in the early stages of the innings, ultimately achieving a comfortable half-century. In that match, India achieved a resounding victory, triumphing by a margin of 228 runs.

In the late hours of Thursday, Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), touched down in Ahmedabad. Reports from the Pakistan camp indicated that Ashraf had arrived in the city along with his spouse and was slated to remain in India for the upcoming Saturday’s match. A PCB official confirmed his visit, stating, “He is here as a guest of the BCCI.”

In related developments, the BCCI has officially announced a cultural program scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The board has made arrangements for several accomplished singers to entertain the audience prior to the commencement of the match at 2 p.m. The entertainment is set to span 30 minutes, commencing at 12:30 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM. As customary, the coin toss will take place at 1:30 PM.
