BCCI give update on Rohit Sharma’s availability for second Test

India captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the second test against Bangladesh starting on 22 December in Dhaka.

Rohit was unable to recover from his thumb injury sustained in the second ODI against Bangladesh and will not be available for the second Test. Pacer Navdeep Saini was also ruled out  due to abdominal strain.

The injury occurred during the fourth serve of the second over of Mohammed Siraj in the second ODI, when Rohit, who was in the cordon, tried to catch the ball, injuring his thumb. He was immediately removed from the field and replaced by Rajat Patidar.

Rohit entered the fray, scored a brilliant half century, but was eliminated from both the ODI final and the first test.

Place in Trial World Championships

In his absence, K.L. Rahul led the Indian team to victory by 188 runs in the first Test at Chattogram. Rahul will continue to lead the team in the second Test as India aims for the top two spots in the ICC World Test Championship.
